The new Plantronics BackBeat Fit are perfect for those who like to listen to their favorite music while jogging, biking or even lifting weights. It solves the problem of annoying cords by using bluetooth to communicate with your smartphone, and putting the controls right on your ears.
The Plantronics BackBeat Fit comes in two colors: neon-green or turquoise blue. It is made of soft, rubberlike plastic and the earbuds are connected with a plastic band that loops behind your ears.
Control buttons are placed on both earpieces: Power, Play/Pause (press the button one time), Next and Previous Track (hit the button twice), Volume, Call.
The micro usb jack is carefully hidden in the right ear bud, covered by a little rubber cover.
The design of the Plantronics BackBeat Fit makes them always stay in place, no matter what you are doing. It’s a big improvment, compared to the BackBeat Go 2. They never drop, even if you’re sweating a lot, unlike the Jaybird Bluebuds X.
Overall the sound quality of the BackBeat Fit is good, though it lacks some heavy-sounding bass sometimes. This is due to the fact that the headphones are not designed to isolate outside noise like many other pair of headphones. This is a good thing if you use them while jogging or cycling, in order to be aware of potential danger, but the low point is this lack of bass.
Frequencies are all very well balanced, which gives a rich spectrum of beautiful sound. Left and right are well separated. You can listen to very different kind of music while still appreciate the sound quality these headphones deliver.
Voice call quality is good, even not crystal clear.
One little low point however: volume is quite limited. Don’t go for them if you’re looking for ear-splitting audio!
Plantronics claims that the battery can last up to 8 hours, which I found pretty true. Even if you don’t use the headphones for a couple of days without charging it, you can still enjoy several hours of music at full volume. In short, the BackBeat Fit is always ready to go! On the iPhone, the battery life is shown on the status bar, which is very handy. The BackBeat Fit can last up to 2 weeks while on standby mode.
The Plantronics BackBeat Fit comes with a soft case that you can turn inside out to transform it into a reflective armband. You also have a phone pouch, cable and charger, but no extra pair of eartips.
