Headphones make your run bearable and fun. Sports lovers just like you are used to picking the best sports headphones that fits perfectly to the need which they intend to satisfy. Some runners don’t like it when their earbuds bounce out while running: this could be avoided if the right earphone for running had been bought.

There is a large collection of headphones for running available in the market that you as a runner should know about before going to make a purchase. I have grouped them into wired and wireless devices.

Best Wireless Headphones For Running

Bluetooth sports headphones belong to the group of wireless headphones. This set of headphones helps you stay motivated when you are hitting the road, they have great quality sound and some do not need smartphones in order to be of use. This set has inbuilt memory or detachable memory cards that can contain as much music as possible. The major setback about this collection of headphones is that they have limited battery life and may not be very durable as regards to running due to subcomponents that make up the device.

Best Wired Headphones For Running

Wired headphones are also good devices for running and other sports activities. They are very convenient to use if you can get one with good earbuds that fit your ear. Just like wireless headphones, they too produce great sound and do not need to be charged in other to produce sound. So, when connected to your smartphone you are good to go. The major limitation to this collection is that of fitting to your ear: they can bounce out and the discomfort of fiddling with it to keep it in place while exercising is the worst disturbance ever, as far as running with headphones is concerned.

Finding The Best Headphones For Running

To find the best headphones for running, you can ask yourself the following questions: What the best headphones you should have, would these headphones be able to eliminate or be compactable with noise and still provide good sound when used for outdoor activity like running, are they water resistant enough to withstand body sweat, does sweat eat up the earbuds, what type of earphone fits perfectly into my sports routine, must I carry my phone while jogging or running before I could enjoy music,  if I have below a hundred dollars to spend will I still be able to buy one of the best headphones under 100??? One may need to know how and where to get the best in the market full of the good and the bad.

With all these questions in mind, I will proffer solutions by laying out the best five headphones for running that met your requirements and answered your questions. They include:

Great write up on running headphones. I feel that there is some audio quality loss with blue tooth headphones so I am going to stick with a wired solution. My wife uses these a lot and has problems with finding a pair that stay in her ear. Can you recommend the best fitting wired running headphones?

It depends on your budget, but I would recommend the 2 products by JLab, one is wired, the other wireless. They are designed for fitness exercises, so for people who make lots of movements.

Very interesting choices in headphones! I didn’t realize how many there were. I have just been buying the $15 ones. But I think the coolest ones I saw was the ones made by Sony. You can dive in the pool with them on. When you get it in the mail, it’s in a jar full of water just to show you they work! But I mean it’s also good for everything else. If you’re sweating a lot then these can be good. You don’t wanna ruin your brand new headphones like that. The only drawback is the price. The ones you got look like top notch ones you find at best buy.

I have just recently taken up jogging and I’m looking for a decent set of headphones, so I can sing along to a few tunes along my journey. LOL.

For me, wireless headphones are more beneficial because I hate getting tangled up, which is pretty annoying.

I love the JBL Synchros Reflect headphones since they look awesome and I love bright colors.

    Neil 🙂

Hi David, I am also a great music fan and musician. I went through your web site, you have great content, high quality products and useful tips, good choice there. It is rare now to get proper advice from sales persons in shops when you want to get something and this is why your site is useful, coming forward with 2 categories of headphones (wired and cordless) can only lead the buyer left or right 🙂 I personally don’t jog but I cycle and it is not safe to wear headphones in my case so I am not a potential buyer for your specific niche 🙂 Keep up the good work.

You’re definitely right about all the considerations one would need to make, on what we would consider the best set of running headphones would be. For myself I’m not a runner but the same concept still applies to have your headphones fit properly and give you the sound you desire.
The wired headphones by Bose, are my pick for my purposes of getting the best sound for the money.

Great information! Thank you for your insight! Your list is timely and a nice selection. I bookmarked your post. Last month, I started jogging outside. My headphones falls off my ear often, which is annoying. My budget is about $50. The headphones has to be water resistant. What is your recommendations?

    Hey David,
Cool timing! I was just starting my jogging routine again and as my stamina increases, the longer I tend to jog and it does get a tad boring when I can’t listen to any songs.

These headphones are pretty cool but I tend to run a bit in between jogs, do they have any grips whatsoever to ensure they won’t fall off? I love the fact that they’re waterproof. Also, do I need to bring my phone along when jogging or can I just upload the songs directly to the headphones?

      admin November 10, 2015

Hi Riaz! Thanks for your comment. I don’t think they have some kind of grips. I know the BackBeat Go 2 comes with a charging case that you can take with you. And unfortunately, none of these headphones comes with a memory where you can stock your music. You must have a player with you.

Hi! I count myself as good enough techno boy, but even never heard about such a cool invention as wireless headphones for running. I used to run time to time and could not imagine do it without music in my ears. Yes, and standard wired iPhone headphone not so convenient, but it’s free, so need to think twice to spend another $100.

Let’s be honest, this post is genius because most of the normal headphones out there just fall right off as you run. The NEWER apple ones seem to be way better but that is when they are in properly. I feel like the JLAB fits would be one of the best ones out there honestly!

Thanks for this, I might actually go invest in some of these!

    look me up

    Hey there

You have laid out a great article relating best headphones for running. It can be quite irritating for my headphones to fall off while running as it spoils the momentum.

You have explained the different products clearly and I believe a good headphone/music contributes largely to your mood during the run itself.
